  1. Hi there, love your guide. One question though: is it still up to date? I ran some numbers for the items you say we should buy for lv 1-25. At the moment, it doesn’t seem more benficial to buy the more expensive of the clothing pieces (the ones that cost 4 bolts of jute + more to craft). I just simply looked at the costs of jute scraps/bolts, and the relative costs of the clothing pieces in the tp. What am I missing?

    • The guide is focused on leveling the fastest. It is based on mostly discovery because it yields the most exp. It is not about cost even though it does end up to be cost effective.

It states you don’t have to build the components you can just go buy them. If you do find out that it could be cheaper getting some fangs and bolts then do that.

The TP cost will vary from day to day so with a few minutes of looking you can see what to buy/farm. If you are seeing really expensive mats look for alternatives in the recipe list above.

      • Thanks for your response. I’ll continute to monitor prices, while trying to stick to your guidelines.

  2. Just another question: I’m on wool now. I’m finding that the insignias you are instructing that we buy are the most expensive ones. Is there a reason not to buy the cheaper ones, or have prices just changed? Thanks :)

    • We believe the reason why they are the highest prices is because people are buying them based on this guide. :) Have no fear there is no reason why you can’t just get the alternative ones. Just look at the tailoring recipe list for the level range (0 – 25, 25 – 50, etc.) to see the alternatives. It is usually just an insignia switch as you suggested. Secondly, make sure you are building items over upgrade components or other minor things. Discovering items such as gloves yield the highest exp where something like a Rune Of Life(upgrade component) is not as much. Good work so far and good luck.

  3. Good guide, got 1-400 in less than 6 hours. Message me in game if you have any questions about this. Good job author!

  4. How much does it cost to complete this guide?

    • Most report 6 to 9 gold. But make sure you check the recipe list for alternatives when prices are high. You can also build a few pieces.

  5. Hey there, I’ve been running these guides for a few now and they work really well, although I did make some of my own mats because the cost difference. This guide is fantastic, but was wondering if you put together a full 1-400 mats list? for those of us who want to get everything together and pound it out, I found myself running back to the trade vendor often and it would take a toll on my crafting exp bonus buff (I suggest everyone buys these that does the guides, 50% chance to bonus exp on crafts made it so I never had to craft anything other then what this guide suggest to make it to the next tier)

  6. Hey,

Love the guide. I had a good look through and I didn’t notice this anywhere, though I could have missed it. If you craft at the crafting station’s in WvW you can get a percent increase on crit bonus exp depending on how many points your server has racked up. My server has won several weeks in a row now so we get a lot of points. I didn’t have to craft any extra items, only what you listed.

Thanks for the great guide :)

  7. I don’t understand. You show that I should discover the same recipes for 25-50 as for 50-75. How does that work?

    • These recipes/outputs are the same name but the materials to make them are different. Sorry we know it is confusing so we put in a comment at that section.

  8. Started from lvl 33 and i got to lvl 46 from 1-400.
This cost me 15 gold in total following this guide. If I knew from the start I wouldnt have bothered.

    • When you are faced with the changes in the market you have a few options to keep the cost down. For one you can follow the approximate formula where you can build a few of these components and then discover the rest. For this we have found that it takes about 9 components built and 9 discoveries. You can also build other recipes that we have not listed here in the same level range by referring to the recipe list. As a final option you can pick a few recipes and hit up the gw2 farming guides we have so you can build some in bulk.

  9. If you added a total list of what to buy it would make this guide even better

    • Agreed and we will try to make that happen!

  10. thanks…………
