Usually it takes 13 discoveries, 12 minimum, and 15 maximum to level 25 levels. Specifically we discovered the Rune of Life which takes 2 Stretched Rawhide Leather Squares and 1 Bolt of Jute. This is not to be confused with the same Rune of Life that is in Tailoring or Armorsmithing which takes different mats.

Leatherworking Leveling Guide 125 – 150

At this level you will start to make orange level items and this is going to be fun. There are 2 types of Insignias to build these items, one orange and one green. The words Intricate and Embriodered are interchangable so get the cheapest.

For example, Hearty Intricate Wool Insignia is interchangeable with Hearty Embroidered Wool Insignia. They are separate recipes, but for leveling purposes, just get one of the 2.

1. Buy the Following Materials

We assume the green level Insignias are a bit cheaper than the orange with this section.

  • 4 Hearty Embroidered Wool Insignia
  • 4 Honed Embroidered Wool Insignia
  • 4 Strong Embroidered Wool Insignia
  • 3 Thin Legging Padding

  1. So In took your advice and just bought the components and leveled to 100 in literally a few minutes. I just copied and pasted the mats from the grid to the Trading post.

Screw gathering 300 pieces of leather.

    Awesome Guide Pwn and Wicked!

    • Your a beast! How much did it set you back?

  2. Ehhrm, seems like a good guide, made it to 25 fairly quick but when i bought the components for 25-50 i could only use the insignias for 1 discovery each before they rest “magicaly” got turned into 50 in required rating. Any ideas why?

    • Typo… Precise, Healing and Resilient are available for all pieces. The helm which you saw was the only piece that is available for discovery at this level for Mighty, Vital and Malign.

–I have been thoroughly reprimanded for this one.

  3. 25-50 uses the wrong insignia. It should say Precise, Healing and Resilient

    • Thank you for your quick resolution. The guide has been updated.

  4. I’m looking forward to run through the guide, but what I’m interested is, after reading all this, is what the total price is from 1-400, so i, and other ppl, have an idea of how much it costs to get through it all. I didn’t read the other guides, but if it isn’t displayed there either, it’d be a finishing touch :)

    • We admit it is a hard question. We would have to monitor the market over lengthy periods of time to get some good averages. There is a lot of variance because of the fluctuations in the market. We can say however that it was affordable to do 2 profs at once and keep it to our level (make items that we could wear). We didn’t go broke, however in some cases Insignia prices were too high so we farmed some mats and made them or posted an offer on the TP. So our suggestion is go to the TP and check out the prices for any given 25 levels (Copy and paste the mats from the guide works well). Add it all up and see if it is worth it to farm some materials or just post a custom offer and rely on patience while it gets filled.

      • To help with the prices we are creating the farming guides and soon some gold making guides to assist when the market is unkind. Here people can quickly farm some blood, a fang or some lettuce and sell off to make some good cash. But we can assure you, if you were to gather all the mats it would take an exhaustive amount of time in many cases. Most of the time it would be more time efficient to just farm for some gold (money not ore) and buy the pieces. This is because some drop rates on leather are not the best; However, farming some Scale would yield a high gold/hour. Using that technique you will save time by selling something expensive and buying the leather, insignia or whatever is hurting your budget.

    • Literally just leveled 1-400 buying everything you said off the TP, some insignia’s were ridiculous prices like 50-80s for 4; I bought them anyway, cost me just under 10g from 1-400. Some of the levels its cheaper just to buy the leather / cloth to make the parts then buy straight off the TP which I found out after a few levels of buying overpriced pieces.
Not sure exactly how much gold I got back from filling orders / vendoring the stuff I made.

  5. From 300 to 400 the parts labeled ‘Thick Goggle Panel’ and ‘Thick Goggle Strap’ are actually named ‘Thick Mask Padding’ and ‘Thick Mask Strap’ respectively.

  6. Leatherworking Leveling Guide 225- 250
    1. Buy the Following Materials

Couldn’t find this item in TP
    Course Goggle Panel

    • From 225 to 250 it takes Rugged Goggle Straps and Rugged Goggle Paddings. Previous to that it takes the Coarse variety (150 – 225).

    • The reason he isn’t finding the material is because the spelling is slightly off, the correct word is “coarse”

  7. I’m excited to try this, I’ve been grinding gathering/crafting to 175 so far. If this is as fast as it seems and as cheap…giddy! Too bad I’m at work. I have to wait hours HOURS!

  8. Great guide already lvl 400 in Huntsman and now going for Leather. But, from my experience in Huntsman it would be really really helpful to have a list of everything that needs to be pruchased for all levels so I can avoid the freaking running back and forth from the workbench to the AH. Does this list already exist?

    • Just keep this page open and tab back and fourth.

  9. Just for quick reference, on Blackgate, it cost 4g to get 1-175.

  10. Really good guide! Thanks for this

  13. Aurora Glade server it took 15G to reach 400 insta buying all you need

  14. Just wanted to thank you for this guide. All of them, actually… I’m using them to low-level each of my alts to about 15 or 20. I ended up printing out a copy of it (edited to remove pictures/extra text) and that made it really easy to track TP prices and decide whether it was worth making a particular piece/insignia or just buying it outright.

I had a lot of materials already, and by making some of the lower-level items, I was ahead of the game and didn’t have to buy/craft the really expensive insignia for 400. I also used a crafting booster (I have tons of those from BLChests).

Next up for me is Huntsman, and it’s nice to know there’s an accurate guide for me to use. Much appreciated!!
